We wash and restore rugs using techniques passed down for four generations. Every rug starts the same way:
- Measured, inspected, tagged and invoiced on arrival
- Any objects removed and noted
- Vacuumed back and front, and dusted if needed
- Hosed down in the washing pit
- Excess water allowed to run off
- Hand washed with a wool cleaning shampoo
- Rinsed until all shampoo is removed. Wool is never soaked.
- Flipped and the process repeated
- Repeated until the water runs completely clean
- Dried on a drying grate
- Brushed and dusted for a finished pile
- Soaked in the washing pit
- Removed and excess water drained
- Synthetic cleaning shampoo applied
- Extractor used to clean and remove shampoo
- Dried on a drying grate
- Pile combed and fluffed for a finished look
